Edited By Cochat,Pierre
Immunosuppression in solid organ transplantation is experiencing a worldwide revival since new drugs are now available in the late-1990s and others are under development. In order to contribute to the design of future strategies, a critical approach of surrogate endpoints is given and long-term side effects are analyzed, together with the impact of non-compliance, quality-of-life and economical parameters. In this book, international specialists have set up the scientific rationale and provided new bases for further immunosuppressive strategies. 179pp.

Garebian, Keith
Christopher Newton has placed the Shaw Festival firmly on the map world-class theatre. His best Shavian productions are revolutionary re-interpretations of plays that are normally treated as Edwardian period pieces or didactic entertainments. In this first full-length study of Newton, critic Keith Garebian shows how the pairing of Shaw and Newton, that once seemed 'not bloody likely' has become one of the most exciting enterprises in Canadian theatre, with startling results. The book begins with a biographical section that sketches some of the most pervasive influences on Newton's artistic sensibility, and suggests what has particularly inspired his ever-growing fascination with Shaw. Successive chapters document Newton's concept of Shaw as a surrealist, and contain detailed descriptions of productions at Niagara-on-the-Lake from 1980-1990. Among other things, readers are shown a Caesar and Cleopatra set in a Shadow Box; Heartbreak House as a dream-play of the night and anarchy; Major Barbara as a double quest; You Never Can Tell as part comic romance, part farcical metaphor; the metatheatrical suggestions of Man and Super-man; and, a Misalliance as metaphor of a convulsive new age. As Garebian shows, Newton's approach for all its paradoxes, succeeds in making George Bernard Shaw our dynamic contemporary. 164pp. N.B. Slight mark to bottom edge of front cover.

Friedman, E. A.; And Arnees, I. (Editors)
Increasingly, medicine in general and nephrology specifically is based on clinical trials and verifiable presumption. Still, however, much of everyday clinical practice is the consensus of pundits and experts unable to validate their suggestions beyond personal bias. In this unique volume, several core beliefs in renal medicine are examined and challenged. Starting as assignments for nephrology fellows, this book grew out of surprising 'revelations' indicating that 'the emperor has no clothes'. The book is suitable as a stimulus for provocative discussions for nephrologists, internists, house staff, and medical students. 74pp.

Marlowe, Edith V. (editor)
It has been estimated that of the approximately six billion people currently living on the Planet Earth, there are seven billion writers. But why? Some want to instruct, others to entertain or to share experience with others to reduce their inner stresses by letting it all hang out. Publishers have reacted to this situation by publishing a non-stop torrent of books on how to do-it writing. This bibliography gathers citations from the literature for the past 10 years and provides easy access with subject, author and title indexes. 231pp.
